💬 you're heading towards your debut and the audition has begun! what are your current feelings?
🍓 as the four of us have been practising constantly so it's been a while since we've appeared on tv or done a shoot. in saying that, we've practised hard and we want to give a great performance as fast as possible💬 what were your feelings when the debut with the four of you was decided?
🍓 i had worries and was a little surprised when i heard about it. debuting in japan is a little fascinating. i had learnt korean but this time i'll do my best studying japanese too. i want to go to japan since i like japanese culture💬 individually, in preparing for your debut, what is an area you think you've grown in?
🍓 i played the piano since i was an elementary student and i learnt it for around five years. i joined a badminton team when i was a middle school student and did that for around four to five years. i also liked basketball and swimming so i'm generally confident when it comes to sports. i'm confident about physical activities. after that i also played the guitar. however, i couldn't play really well (laughs). until i became i high school student, i had only done sports but my sister told me "why not give dance a try". joining my high school dance team was a turning point for me. at that time, i was still mostly doing street dance but i wanted to learn more real dance so i moved to an arts school. there i also learnt acting, singing, and dance.
among the live performances i've seen until now, BTS' concert in LA left the biggest impression on me. i thought it was a concert that conveys a great power to those watching so i felt it was amazing that you could convey something in that way.
personality wise, i'm not the kind of person that thinks too deeply, i'm the type that becomes satisfied if i can do it to some degree. however now. i've become greedy in wanting to do more as i aim for perfection. i want to be able to chase it further. going from a trainee, i've become a part of the debut group and until i debut i think i need to become more professional so in that sense growth is necessary
💬 please share your top 3 favourite things that give you energy
🍓 music, eating lots, and talking with family and friends
🍓 when i'm feeling down, i like listening to music alone. listening to my favourite music gives me energy. i mostly listen to hiphop. following that, i also like pop music. the second thing is eating well. i eat a lot (laughs). on days after stages are done, i eat enough to shock people. i'm not originally on the bigger side but i have to be careful since i eat a lot. the third thing is talking with family or friends. i feel better in times that i can talk freely.💬 recently what's a thing that looked pretty?
🍓 the scenery i see when i wake up early
🍓 lately there are a lot of times i've had to wake up early and on those days, when i see beautiful scenery, i think it's beautiful. i wake up at around 6am and it's really beautiful seeing the sun rise. that view is really memorable💬 recently what's a thing that smelled good?
🍓 the smell of delicious food
🍓 i'm not really aware of smells (laughs) but i think that the smell of delicious food is great smell. the smell of spicy food switches on my appetite💬 if you were to go to japan, what's something you'd look forward to?
🍓 i want to go to tokyo and eat sushi
🍓 i've been to okinawa once. before i become a trainee, i went together with my family. okinawa was super nice. the scenery was beautiful and the food was yummy too! i haven't been to tokyo so i definitely want to go. then i want to eat sushi. i want to go shopping if i go to tokyo. i like fashion so i want to go and buy clothes💬 korean culture is really popular. what's your favourite korean culture or dish?
🍓 kpop, kimchi, and fashion
🍓 as expected, personally my favourite is kpop! the dancing is also amazing. for korean dishes, i love kimchi. after that, fashion. i like korean-type fashion. there's a lot of strange and design-heavy clothes so it goes perfectly with my tastes as i don't really like clothes that overlap with others
💬 what kind of group are you aiming for in the future?
🍓 i want to become a group that gives good energy to people watching everyday and not just on stage. i'll do my best to give a good influence💬 what's a message you want to convey to the guys you are working hard with together on the audition program?
🍓 of course while filming there will be great times and also tough times but i only hope you don't have regrets. if you give it all you've got, you'll be able to enjoy it. i think it's good if that's the case so let's have fun with no regrets💬 what's a memorable piece of advice you've received from the mentors?
🍓 i'm a part of the debut group so i have to have confidence and show that but since i stood on stage after some time, i ended up getting nervous and i felt that i couldn't show off my charms to the fullest. the mentors telling me that i'd be alright if i had more confidence in myself left a lasting impression on me. i had worries in the mission following that but thanks to that advice, i overcame it with confidence💬 do your fellow members and trainee friends talk and confide in each other often?
🍓 we talk about things relating to the missions a lot. we often talk about performance related things. we look at other artist's performances and share opinions while taking reference💬 what is something memorable or an episode that happened during the audition program?
🍓 i'm still not good at japanese so there are a few funny things from when i couldn't express what i wanted to say well (laughs). there are also cases where i ended up laughing over my slightly weird pronunciations when singing japanese songs
💬 what is something you respect about each other or something you want to convey?from NICHOLAS🐣 < 🍓 your energy is always high and you have a lot of happiness. when i wake up in the morning, my energy is low and i'm not talkative but TAKI is the mood maker with the way that from the moment he wakes up, his energy breaks through and cheers us up. i want to tell you let's do our best together in the future🍊 < 🍓 we're the same age and are really close friends. i've spent a lot of time together with EJ and we've hung out a lot. that's why i want to say thank you for always being together here with me. let's work hard together in future too👑 < 🍓 you are the eldest amongst us and you take care of everyone. you've helped us a ton with your dance, singing, and ability and despite there being tough times too, i'm grateful that you always think of the members. because of that i want to tell you that you've worked hard![NICHOLAS excerpts]from K🍓 < 👑 he is a really warm member at his core. he thinks of the team as family and he's usually cool. my favourite part of NICHOLAS is that warmth that he has. it's not a kindness that has to be consciously thought of but a kindness that bleeds through from the bottom of his heart. that part of him is something that i always respect when we are are together. i want to tell him thank you for always treating us kindly like familyfrom TAKI🍓 < 🐣from EJ🍓 < 🍊 NICHOLAS is the only one of the same age so as friends we've talked about various things. his personality is the complete opposite to mine so i think that NICHOLAS' good points are his ability to produce himself, his trust in himself, and his respect for himself. i also want to follow in his example in those kinds of areas. up until now i've relied on him as a same age friend so i want to say let's stay close in the future too

&TEAM💬 are there any parts of the members that are cute but they themselves don't realise it?
🐶 i don't know if this is cute or not but i think NICHOLAS dozing off often is cute. before he goes to bed, he often watches videos of anime and such on his phone and he will usually nod off while watching. i hear sounds coming from NICHOLAS' phone when i try to go to bed so i always switch his phone off for him (laughs)

🍊 it's embarrasssing (laughs). i get ahead of myself with wanting to bring up the energy so i start saying something but i always end up fumbling my words and slipping up and making it pin drop silent (laughs)
🎮 but lately don't NICHOLAS' own jokes fall flat as well? his face when that happens is super cute (laughs). if i were to put it, it's like he kind of shrinks in on himself and pouts
🍓 i mimic the lines of anime characters when i try to bring the energy up and when i do FUMA and YUMA don't play along so i end up suddenly becoming embarrassed (laughs)

👑 hmm units...how fun! i'd like to see FUMA, NICHOLAS, and myself do a full on hiphop performance. i want us to get into so hard that the audience doesn't know what to do with themselves (laughs)

🍊 i want to try doing a ballad with YUMA as i genuinely like ballads and i really love ballads that YUMA sings

🍓 i was really happy to have received our first award during the 2023 asia artist awards (AAA). the collaboration with our senior artists, SB19 from the philippines, was also fun
🐶 NICHOLAS and i became the middle ground and communicated with SB19 because we can speak english💬 share with us the highlights of your first concert tour "&TEAM CONCERT TOUR FIRST PAW PRINT"

FUMA x NICHOLAS x EJ🎮 i can be the most at ease when i'm with the both of them. earlier the three of us went to eat yakiniku and, in a good way, it was really "normal" (laughs)
🍓 i also feel somewhat at ease when i'm with the both of them. i end up getting nervous when it comes to interviews since i'm still not good at japanese but when i'm together with the two of them i can feel relieved
🎮 as a leader EJ is reliable and i'm glad that NICHOLAS talks to me honestly. i also find it easy to talk when i'm with the two of them. they also talk to me about anything. what about you EJ?
🍊 i think it's just as you both said so there wasn't any space to cut in (laughs). however FUMA tells silly lies easily you know. for example, when i saw a button in the practice room i asked "what button is this?" and FUMA said "if you press this the building will collapse. we have this sort of thing in japan". i still don't know things about japan well so i get fooled by these weird lies (laughs)
🍓 i've also been fooled by that (laughs). although i kept believing him, when the other member's told me that it was lie i was incredibly shocked!
🎮 it's cause i won't reveal that it is a lie until the very end (laughs)
🍊 i thought that he was a quiet and good older brother when i first met him though...
🍓 although he looks like someone who definitely wouldn't lie, he lies with a serious face
🎮 if you're saying that, around the time i first met NICHOLAS, he was a little scary. it's bad when he wakes up (laughs). however now he's super cute. in the past when we went out together, it was like he wanted to eat shabu shabu no matter what. i don't usually really eat at night but i lost to NICHOLAS' begging that day so we went to eat shabu shabu together. that was probably the first time we ate together just the two of us right?
🍓 i think so. even when you invite the two of them to eat, for the most part they decline. however because they are both so kind, it's cute that when they decline they do it all apologetically. i like seeing that (laughs)
🎮 you're looking at that kind of thing?!
🍊 i go to eat together with you around one out of the five times you ask don't i! even on the stage NICHOLAS often teases the members

🍓 even playing around by tapping their shoulders, making them turn around and poking their cheeks, FUMA doesn't fall for it. but JUJU (EJ) always falls for it though (laughs)
🍊 although i absolutely don't want to react, i unintentionally end up moving my body by reflex
🍓 before, JUJU didn't really talk much to me about himself but lately he's been talking about his hobbies and his favourite songs so it's refreshing. lately he's started playing the guitar
🎮 EJ is also good japanese. he's especially great at reading kanji. even in messages to LUNÉ he's been writing using kanji

an artist's duty is to give happiness to peopleNICHOLAS who loves pink. in the past, the pink hair that he tried once was his absolute favourite
🍓 i had pink hair for one day only and only for the purpose of that day i bought a pink cardigan to match my hair colour! i originally have naturally curly hair so i care about hair care. not only do i apply hair oil but first of all apply cold air to prevent my hair from curling. right now my hair is long so drying it properly takes over 10 minutes.he also has a high interest in fashion. his sharp gaze and his “can wear anything” fashion sense when he walked the tokyo girls collection (TGC) runway became a hot topic!
🍓 first and foremost i want to stand on the TGC runway again! i have confidence in my gaze so i think that i'd suit a movie where i can act making use of that (laughs). i'm still not fluent in japanese so it might be hard but one day i want to try voice acting for animehis exceptional proportions that make him good at modelling too is a result of his daily self restraint. however, the tour that spanned over a month was harder than expected and he gradually ended up losing weight
🍓 the day after the tour ended, my weight was restored after i ate hamburgers and chicken like crazy to gain back the weight i lost (laughs). immediately after the tour ended, it didn't feel real but waking up the day after i thought "ah the tour is already over" and ended up missing it. in front of LUNÉ, my energy unintentionally increases and i end up going too hard so next i want to build a perfect physiqueduring that tour, he also felt the member's growth

🍊 after our debut, we've been working like no tomorrow with our “FIRST HOWLING” album releases, but compared to that, with our first single "SAMIDARE" there is a quietness and a focus on emotions. this is a single we've carefully prepared to be able to properly convey those emotions to LUNÉ
🍓 we are expressing the charm of japan's scenery and the beauty of the japanese language so i think we'll be able to show everyone a new side of us👤 what is your favourite point of the other member’s part in “SAMIDARE”?

🍊 i think it's probably that you’ve seen me borrow things from NICHOLAS. however we haven’t bought any matching items

🍊 ah NICHOLAS copied me with the headphones
🍓 no i didn't~ (laughs). i wanted to buy headphones at around the exact same period and it was the exact same one that i liked…what can you do. we were going to buy it on the same day but there were various things going on so EJ bought it first and then i bought it the following day

🍓 both of our clothing styles are quite different so when we are filming and only times when EJ wants try and look cool do i occasionally lend him a hat or some small items

🍓 ok i'll start. i think that the effort EJ puts in for those around him is really admirable and this isn't something that came about after becoming the leader of &TEAM, he's always been like this
🍊 i like the kindness that NICHOLAS has for the people around him
🍓 i'm the type that is conscious about how i appear in front of others but i think EJ is good in that he earnestly puts effort into each individual thing and builds from the ground up
👤 if it were tennis, NICHOLAS would first of all start from what sports wear to buy but EJ is the type to start from how to hit the ball or how to build up strength. is that what's good about him?

🍓 wah this is difficult...(laughs). it's the wolfcut or the pink hair...but among the colours pink hair is my favourite. when i dyed my hair pink i was often told that it looked good on me so i will go with pink hair!
👤 do you have a hairstyle you want to try out?
🍓 at this point in time i don't think it will suit me but something like a red buzz cut...(laughs). no but i should probably stop here (embarrassed and at a loss wondering if he should change his answer). there aren't many people who do this line of work and have a buzzcut so...(laughs). but i like being different from other people so i want to try it out💬 i'm currently studying mandarin but i'm struggling cause it's hard...i really have so much respect for NICHOLAS cause you can speak four languages. when you were learning languages did you face any struggles? if you did, please share how you overcame them!
🍓 i actually don't really like reading books and studying continuously but i like to communicate. luckily, among the members around me, there is a native korean speaker and native japanese speakers so we talk a bunch and little by little i became good at the languages. however for the fans it is probably hard to make foreign friends right away so i recommend watching and learning from dramas and animes💬 who is the member that spoils you the most?
🍓 ummm...i think it's FUMA. however i'm not really the type to be spoilt (blushing). but FUMA has got muscle and his body is also big so he's strong. i chose him cause i can't beat him (laughs)

born july 9th 2002🍓 drying my hair properly with a hair dryer is the thing i take care of as someone with curly hair. after drying it slightly with cold air, i apply hair oil and then dry it again. there are lots of times where i want to show off a sharp concept so i do hair maintenance so it's easier to style. for hair colours, light colours and black, like i have now, both suit my taste. i like doing hair styles that the other members won't do. recently i made my bangs shorter and it looks stylish so i like it since it looks good in photos. the colour i want to try in the future is pink. actually i was pink for a day for a photo shoot but i want to try it out for a longer time. one day i also want to try long hair and hair that is short all over. as for skincare, i've got dry skin so i make sure to moisturise immediately after leaving the bath. for makeup, i do my eyes dark to have that fierce style that i like. it's also nice to put on gems as it's playful

🍓 since it was our first tour, every performance was a test that we tackled while being taught various things from the staff around us. it was really fun to have made a great stage with everyone putting in the work together. what was memorable for me during the tour was the yakisoba and yakiudon that we ate after the osaka performance! we weren't all present since there were also people who slept right away in their hotel rooms but the people who were there ate a ton. i might've felt it to be yummier as i worked just as hard. aside from that, it was simply fun to have been able to interact with LUNÉ through the tour. it was a beautiful space where i could feel that LUNÉ and us had become one

🍓 since we were the same age, i had always wanted to talk to EJ but i didn’t know a good way to talk to him so i greeted him a bunch of times. i probably did it around 15 times (laughs)
🍊 that day every time our eyes met, he said “annyeonhaseyo” [hello] (laughs). before we talked, he had a bit of a scary impression, but i quickly understood that he was a kind and good kid once we did💬 what is a surprising side of each other that you have come to see the more you’ve gotten to know one another?
🍊 there's nothing surprising anymore (laughs). i can probably predict everything now
🍓 that's so right (laughs). we pretty much expose all sides of each other since we are close
🍊 i think there are probably a bunch of LUNÉs who think NICHOLAS and i are complete opposites but actually our personalities are the most similar. even if there are things bothering us, we can get over it immediately and we aren’t really picky

👑 for me it was when i was around 21 years old. i thought that i should also do the things that i want to do when i was looking at artists that i admire. even before that, i felt that i wanted to become an artist somewhere but i ended up supressing those feelings. i started out late but i think that i was really glad to have tried it out
🍓 i can't clearly remember what age it was...but it was probably when i was around 18 to 19 years old. i think the turning point was the really big project called "I-LAND"
🐶 mine was relatively recent, it was in the winter of 2020. before then, i had performed musicals but from there, i changed routes and thought about wanting to become an artist💬 what kind of things should you do to realise your dreams?
👑 i think it'd be chasing the things that you love to the end. i think that if you were to do them, you should be thoroughly particular about it and put a lot of effort into all the fine stuff. i think it is important to see it through until the end with the feeling that you will put your all into it

🍓 i'm not much of a book reader so i learnt japanese by talking a ton with the japanese members and watching my favourite japanese animes. my recommendation is to study using your field of interest! the japanese word i've learnt recently is "犠牲" [sacrifice]. around the time i got taught the phrase "beauty is pain", i knew through the meaning of having to sacrifice yourself a little bit for fashion💬 you have the image of someone who's always positive but have you ever thought negatively? and when worries come up how do you overcome them?

🍊 "FIREWORK" is a song with a concept that expresses &TEAM the best. it has the feeling of letting out all your happiness that comes from being able to meet "you"! the song i want to recommend is "AOARASHI". it is an &TEAM-like song that expresses the feeling of summer and temporality simultaneously. i think it has the feeling of something bursting all throughout your body

"SCAR TO SCAR" is a high tempo song that makes you lose your breath. on the stage after we finish singing this song, everyone is gasping for air (laughs). however the choreo is cool and i am especially confident at the "i won't turn my back" part where i claw at my body (demonstrates while saying so). "WAR CRY" is a physically demanding song packed with moves that you can't show well if you don't dance with strength
🍊 the choreo in the last chorus where we get up with our lower back strength from a sitting position is cool. there are lots of times where these two songs are back to back during a performance

🍓 i'm the type that doesn't really have much of an appetite in the morning and afternoon so i eat a lot at night. i love anything if it's meat. yakiniku [grilled meat], gyudon [beef and rice], pork, beef, chicken, i can eat everything regardless of type. the other day i ate five burgers, two sets of fries, and chicken nuggets all at once (laughs)NO.2 - clothes

A: "CRESCENT MOON'S WISH"
NC: we're singing lyrics filled with the feelings that we want to convey. i favourite part of mine is in there too. it's the chorus and i wanted to express it in a way that would move the listener but it was super hard and i didn't want to overdo it......so i practised hard and did my best. i hope many people give it a listenQ: please share if there were any memorable events in 2024!
A: getting the opportunity to perform in my hometown of taiwan
NC: i was so thrilled about it so it was incredibly memorable. it was a precious moment getting to see so many people thereQ: are there any memorable stories from rehearsals or from filming?
A: the "SAMIDARE" mv
NC: there's a scene where FUMA and i have a fight and i act as if i'm punching him and shoving him while yelling. i've never done anything like that before so it was hard to get the balance but it was a fresh new experience (laughs)Q: through the summer of 2024 to winter, where do you feel you've grown?
A: i've grown confidence in myself
NC: i'm the type of person that wants focus on the things that i want to do but because i end up worrying about the eyes of those around me, i lose that focus. however thanks to the experiences i've gained through work, i'm not really bothered by it anymore. i think it's due to the fact that i've grown confidence in myself and so i believe that's where i've grown the mostQ: moving forward, what part of &TEAM do you want people to pay attention to?
A: the fact that we've still got many more sides to us that we've yet to show
NC: if i were to describe &TEAM's charm in a few words, it'd be that we are a group of possibilities. we showed completely different sides of us through each of the genres of our released songs but we've still got plenty of sides we've yet to show. i hope you can look forward to that in 2025!

in what way do the opposing duo start their day...
we imagined their morning states and asked questions about their mornings!
an incredible chemistry was born with their continuously contrasting responses~ ♡Q: are you a morning person?
EJ: i'm fine with mornings. i'm the type that pretty much can get up right away after i open my eyes. when i have to get up early, i'll be fine if i set an alarm!
NC: i can't wake up at all (laughs). i didn't have to get up that early today but despite setting three alarms, i could barely get up so i ended up a little late for the departure time...Q: when setting an alarm, do you set it earlier than when you have to get up or set it right when you have to get up?
EJ: since i worry about oversleeping i set it earlier than when i have to get up. i set three alarms at intervals of 10 minutes and around the second one i get up. i don't oversleep much but time to time there are also some close calls (laughs)
NC: it depends on the schedule but i set my alarm 20 to 30 minutes before the departure time. only on really important days like in cases where i definitely won't make it if i don't wake up at 7:30am, i will set an alarm every minute from 7am!Q: from when you open your eyes to when you get out of bed, does it happen within a minute or does it take over 30 minutes?
EJ: within a minute! there hasn't been an incident like this lately but before there was a time i turned my alarm off and slightly shut my eyes thinking i'll wake up in five minutes only to wake up 10 minutes after the departure time. i was really panicked...
NC: i'm not a morning person but if i get up, within a minute, my eyes are open and i'm getting ready and then i'm leaving by two. however there are also times i turn off my alarm and sleep a second time and then a third...Q: if you were to do a morning activity would it be going to a cafe or running?
EJ: i want to do both...if i were to do both, i'd go running then go to a cafe after showering. if it's morning, i'll order french toast and coffee. i like sweet things!
NC: i'm not much for either (laughs). i don't like running much and i can't drink coffee too...if i were a morning person, i'd want to go to a cafe with strawberry milk on their menu! (laughs)Q: if you were to do a morning activity together what would you want to do?
EJ: i want to go and buy breakfast if NICHOLAS can wake up early...(laughs). i want to go buy takeout or go to the shops, buy ingredients, and then make and eat a meal together at home
NC: since i'm not a morning person if possible i'd want to sleep until the afternoon though (laughs). if i woke up early, i want to go to ghibli park, which i've always wanted to go to. we both like ghibli so i think i can wake up early if it's for that!Q: if possible, between laundry and cooking, the household chore you would not want to do in the morning is?
EJ: i probably don't want to do laundry. the reason why is that for cooking there is the enjoyment of making and eating but for laundry you have to wait until it ends and what's more is that you also have to dry it after it ends (laughs)
NC: cooking. the reason why is that for cooking after you make it you also have to wash the dishes which takes time but for laundry you just have to put it in the washing machine and wait and then drying is done in five minutes!Q: what is your favourite breakfast menu?
EJ: tamakakegohan! [TKG/raw egg over rice]. usually i don't eat breakfast much but after hearing that breakfast is really important after exercise, i've been trying to eat breakfast as much as possible. i came to know about TKG after coming to japan and you can easily get nutrients from it and it's yummy!
NC: peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich [PBJ sandwich]. i don't have an appetite in the morning but i like it to the point, that if it's a PBJ sandwich, i can eat it. when i was little, i had it for the first time in america and it was so good i was moved~Q: what &TEAM song do you want people to listen to in the morning?
EJ: i'll go with "MEME". the entire song has a soft and gentle mood so i think it matches well with the start of a day

9:00am good morning!morning person EJ and NICHOLAS who is the complete opposite
in what way do the opposing duo start their day...
we imagined their morning states and asked questions about their mornings!
an incredible chemistry was born with their continuously contrasting responses~ ♡Q: are you a morning person?
EJ: i'm fine with mornings. i'm the type that pretty much can get up right away after i open my eyes. when i have to get up early, i'll be fine if i set an alarm!
NC: i can't wake up at all (laughs). i didn't have to get up that early today but despite setting three alarms, i could barely get up so i ended up a little late for the departure time...Q: when setting an alarm, do you set it earlier than when you have to get up or set it right when you have to get up?
EJ: since i worry about oversleeping i set it earlier than when i have to get up. i set three alarms at intervals of 10 minutes and around the second one i get up. i don't oversleep much but time to time there are also some close calls (laughs)
NC: it depends on the schedule but i set my alarm 20 to 30 minutes before the departure time. only on really important days like in cases where i definitely won't make it if i don't wake up at 7:30am, i will set an alarm every minute from 7am!Q: from when you open your eyes to when you get out of bed, does it happen within a minute or does it take over 30 minutes?
EJ: within a minute! there hasn't been an incident like this lately but before there was a time i turned my alarm off and slightly shut my eyes thinking i'll wake up in five minutes only to wake up 10 minutes after the departure time. i was really panicked...
NC: i'm not a morning person but if i get up, within a minute, my eyes are open and i'm getting ready and then i'm leaving by two. however there are also times i turn off my alarm and sleep a second time and then a third...Q: if you were to do a morning activity would it be going to a cafe or running?
EJ: i want to do both...if i were to do both, i'd go running then go to a cafe after showering. if it's morning, i'll order french toast and coffee. i like sweet things!
NC: i'm not much for either (laughs). i don't like running much and i can't drink coffee too...if i were a morning person, i'd want to go to a cafe with strawberry milk on their menu! (laughs)Q: if you were to do a morning activity together what would you want to do?
EJ: i want to go and buy breakfast if NICHOLAS can wake up early...(laughs). i want to go buy takeout or go to the shops, buy ingredients, and then make and eat a meal together at home
NC: since i'm not a morning person if possible i'd want to sleep until the afternoon though (laughs). if i woke up early, i want to go to ghibli park, which i've always wanted to go to. we both like ghibli so i think i can wake up early if it's for that!Q: if possible, between laundry and cooking, the household chore you would not want to do in the morning is?
EJ: i probably don't want to do laundry. the reason why is that for cooking there is the enjoyment of making and eating but for laundry you have to wait until it ends and what's more is that you also have to dry it after it ends (laughs)
NC: cooking. the reason why is that for cooking after you make it you also have to wash the dishes which takes time but for laundry you just have to put it in the washing machine and wait and then drying is done in five minutes!Q: what is your favourite breakfast menu?
EJ: tamakakegohan! [TKG/raw egg over rice]. usually i don't eat breakfast much but after hearing that breakfast is really important after exercise, i've been trying to eat breakfast as much as possible. i came to know about TKG after coming to japan and you can easily get nutrients from it and it's yummy!
NC: peanut butter and strawberry jam sandwich [PBJ sandwich]. i don't have an appetite in the morning but i like it to the point, that if it's a PBJ sandwich, i can eat it. when i was little, i had it for the first time in america and it was so good i was moved~Q: what &TEAM song do you want people to listen to in the morning?
EJ: i'll go with "MEME". the entire song has a soft and gentle mood so i think it matches well with the start of a day
NC: for me "SAMIDARE". i myself really like the sound of the intro and it's calming

EJ: this is a story from a little while ago but we went to hang out at HARUA’s home!
NC: that's right. we were glad to have been able to rest at a place with lots of natureQ: what's an &TEAM song that matches perfectly with the night?
EJ: “CRESCENT MOON’S WISH”. it's a ballad so it's a song where each and every lyric will linger in your heart when you listen to it at night. i think it's a song that will help heal the fatigue of your day
NC: i also think the same. this is a song where the message was decided to be the feelings we want to convey to LUNÉ which then became the lyrics. i want them to listen to it while looking at the moonQ: what kind of album is &TEAM’s 2nd album “YUKIAKARI”?
EJ: as a compilation of our 2024 released four season series, it's an album that brings the year to a close. it's jam packed with &TEAM’s 2024 and the feelings we want to conveyQ: what kind of year was 2024?
NC: at the start of 2024 i personally set really high goals and i couldn’t fulfil them for myself so i'm carrying a lot of regret. however when i look back on having done activities with the four seasons, even as a group, i have also been able to grow so i think it was a really important yearQ: please give a message to CANCAM readers and LUNÉ!
EJ: when it became 2024, i honestly had worries and nerves over whether we would be able to do four comebacks in a year when i heard that we will be doing releases with a four season theme this year. however, really thanks to LUNÉ’s support, i was able to spend 2024 happily. thank you ♡
NC: just as EJ said, having done four comebacks in a year, not only us but i think LUNÉ also had it tough so thank you for being with us. there's things i couldn’t fulfil in 2024 but i’ll work hard to be able to meet everyone even more in 2025 so i’d be happy if you could wait for me

they're a unit with a casual vibe, who has mutual respect for each other's talent, and has a healthy and comfortable air about themwe're confident about teamwork! fine play no matter the sport
MK: no doubt that what the three of us have in common is...that we like sports isn't it?
NC: while i played badminton during my student days, JO played basketball. so how about "team sports" for our unit name?
JO: sounds good~ actually on our days off we play basketball together
NC: i also love watching nba videos so when i come across an interesting moment i share it with JO
MK: while there are also other members who like to move around, when it comes to the three of us, i feel that we seem to get good results when we play sport activities. i'm not that great at basketball though so i'm better at running or athletics (laughs)
JO: our teamwork has always been good so i feel that we are capable of some fine plays no matter the sport
MK: sports like baseball could be nice too. i feel like it'd be surprisingly more fun doing sports that we haven't really done before!

🍓 for 2024 i want to present JO with the "you've worked hard on dance" award. he didn't just work hard on &TEAM's choreography but he also did his best and challenged many genres of dance this year
🍚 that makes me happy to hear. if i were to give MAKI an award, it'd of course be the "multilingual" award. he's fluent in english and german and he has especially helped the team and i out in situations where we need to communicate in english. even usually he helps out when it comes to english lyrics and gives advice when it comes to english during recordings
🐶 i'll give stylish NICHOLAS the "fashion leader" award (laughs). he originally has a lot of interest in clothes but this year he's tried out all kinds of fashion in his personal style. it feels like he's overflowing with individuality and he won't stop growing. it seems like he will get even cooler from here on out!

🐶 lately the three of us find it fun to spend time freestyling after practice!

🍚 we freestyle together with music randomly playing and it's super fun
🐶 it's embarrassing to freestyle when there's lots of people around so i end up losing the confidence. but since it's a space with just the three of us, it's fun to dance freely!
🍓 it'd be nice to be able to do a dance performance some day with the three of us. it'd be fun to also try out song genres and such that we haven't done yet as &TEAM
🐶 what would be good if we did a performance with instruments as &TEAM? i'd probably be on the piano. i can't play it incredibly well but i do occasionally play the piano
🍓 for me it's the guitar and piano. i played them when i was young so i can play a little

🎮 participating in the men's 400m relay in this year's 2024 ISAC in korea is also a good memory
🍊 the four of us, K, FUMA, NICHOLAS, and I, ran and took first place!
👑 it was the day before ISAC and we couldn't practise though we needed to. that day we were doing a recording for a music show in japan and we were like "oh my god it's already tomorrow!?" "let's at least practise the baton passing" and so during the five minute recording break we practised using our microphones (laughs)
🎮 i was the first runner and i passed the baton to NICHOLAS who was the second runner. i handed the baton over so well it was like an anime where you could hear the "pang!" sound effect, it felt crazy good! i haven't done a relay in over 10 years but i'm glad that we even did just baton practice
👑 we got such a big reaction to taking first place but for me i'm glad to have been able to make memories with LUNÉ in somewhere other than music. there were many LUNÉs supporting us in the venue as well so it felt like we won first place together

born july 9th 2002from NICHOLASNC: we are often styled to match a concept but whenever we get a lot more freedom, i enjoy hairstyles that match my mood.
while i was trying out different kinds of red hair colours, i found that i personally really prefer this dark red colour i have. there is a calmness to it while also being a focal feature hence why i like it.
since i have to dye my hair frequently, i use a scalp pack for self care lately. my hair after becomes lightweight when i massage it in well, leave it in for around 5 minutes, and then wash it out. for skincare too, i make sure to moisturise. i've got dry skin so i can't do without face packs.
i'm particular about my eyes when it comes to makeup. when performing, i want to express with my eyes so they complete my eye look in a way that gives off a sharp impressionthis year was a year where, compared to before, the kind of artist i want to be has become clearer. including the tour, there has been an increase in the opportunities to stand on stage so i hope we've been able to grow. we've entered our third year so i want to do my best to be able to grow from a rookie into becoming even more of a professional. there is fear in taking on challenges as well but since our debut, i've done various fashion and hair styles so i want everyone to enjoy change as well!to K from NICHOLASNC: you often say that you don't look good in turtlenecks but they really suit you. you looked cool today too!

HARUA is reliable. his lovable quality is that while doing his own work properly, he can get a feel for the mood and joke around and can also talk about serious things properly. for NICHOLAS, it's the difference between how he is incredibly charismatic on stage but surprisingly gentle and cute off stage!
🐰 it's super cute and adorable when they both say and do things without much thought. how do i put it...although EJ understands he comes up with replies you don't expect. then for NICHOLAS, even though he doesn't understand, he gives off the vibe that he gets it...or something like that...it's funny cause they both do unexpected things from different angles!
🍓 HARUA lets out various emotions so his human-like quality is lovable. on the other hand, EJ doesn't show feelings much so i unintentionally end up teasing him cause i want to see his different emotions (laughs). my bad?

🍓 i want to rearrange my room so i've been obsessed with looking at interiors. i've been thinking about putting together a cool kind of mood. in the past, when i was practising alone, i'd always make the lighting in the practice room darker so i want to make a dim, calm atmosphere for my room as well. doing that i feel like it'd also be easy to focus and relax. the other day, K, EJ, MAKI, and i went to look at interiors. what caught my eye was a bed and a rug. i think a rug in a black and blue navy colour would be nice so i've been looking aroundthe pink member is...
🍓 of course it's me! right after it'd be the ones with a pink image, HARUA and YUMA. the two of them have a bit of a cute side and it isn't out of place at all even when they wear pink clothes and have pink hair. they really suit iti want to find clothes that suit LUNÉ while we go shopping together
🍓 i have confidence in my ability to pick clothes so i want to go shopping together and choose clothes for them. after doing that i want to go and eat yummy food. i will eat a lot (laughs). what kind of food would be good i wonder~ ummm~ if it's what LUNÉ likes then i can eat whatever!...if it's something other than vegetables that is (laughs). i can do non-green vegetables but green ones are not it so LUNÉ will eat it for me when the time comes~♪if there is something pink when i'm shopping my eyes will definitely be drawn to it!
🍓 i really love pink so i have a lot of pink items. my favourite pink is the cherry blossom pale pink. recently i've bought a pink sweatsuit in a sort of fluffy material. i think pink gives off a cute and pretty impression but i like wearing it in a cool manner. it's also fun thinking about how i can make pink look cool. when i originally wasn't into fashion, i wasn't good at handling pink and because it has a soft image, i was scared to try it out. however after finding it fun to be stylish, i fell for pink's special charm and thought it was a colour that only i can express and ended up liking it! i often take OOTDs and on days that i wear pink clothes, i post with a pink heart emoji ♥︎

🍓 all of the members are really kind. there are only incredibly kind people. for example, EJ is really careful about words so even when he gets a little annoyed, he will definitely not speak in a way that will hurt the other person so i really respect him. 🍓 if i manage to get a bit of a longer break i want to go overseas. i want to go on a trip. i like fashion, arts, looking at architecture from the past, and taking photos so i want to go around europe. i want to go with HARUA. HARUA takes a lot of photos for me and since he is really good, he will come as my cameraman (laughs)the love of people around me has led me to do things more honestly
🍓 in the past i wasn't very good at communicating through words and i wasn't the type to express my feelings but that has slowly come to change. at first, on that large scale project called "I-LAND" that i participated in, i spent my time in a cool manner, not showing my emotions much. however the people supporting me said things like, "it's a shame that he's being misunderstood despite being kind" and "you'll have a good impression if you smile more". from there little by little i started being more conscious of it. originally i was expressionless in front of the camera but the fans changed that side of me. and now, thanks to everyone who supports me, such as LUNÉ, my members, staff, and my family, i am able to do activities happily. since i live without regrets, i'm living with all that in mind so i can repay everyone back through my actions. i am forever really grateful

🍓 i'm still very childish. i also often fight with the members because i joke around too much (laughs). however with JO, since he is kind, it doesn't turn out to be a fight. for example, JO was formerly part of a basketball club and i like basketball too so even when i jokingly say "JO will never win over me. you got to work harder on your basketball yeah?", he goes "ah...ok..." (laughs). lately he's grown a little and replies back saying "i won't lose" so i think he's cute. on the other hand, a place i think i've matured in is that in the past my shyness was terrible but after doing activities as an artist, i think i'm overcoming it little by little. for me it is easy to communicate in english. however, there's nuance and word order in korean and japanese so i'm trying my best because there are plenty of parts that are still a little tricky! by the way with MAKI we mix and speak english, japanese, and korean altogether. as we are close we argue over small things too but since we speak in a mix of languages then as well we might come off as strange to those around us (laughs)i'm really looking forward to our taipei concert, our first asia tour!

🍓 on this asia tour it was the first time having achieved doing a concert in my home country, taiwan. it's deeply touching since it was one dream that i definitely wanted to fulfil. even in taiwan, i really felt that there are lots of LUNÉs that are supporting us which became my strength. i want to work even harder so that we can do activities globally. i was actually super nervous for my dream taipei concert...(strained laugh). when i do comments on stage, i always speak in a mix of japanese and english but for the first time i spoke in my first language so i felt a little awkward...(laughs). but it was really fun!💬 please share phrases that would be good to memorise for a trip to taiwan

🍓 i think i bounce back pretty fast. i'm the type that already recovers after waking up from sleep. i think it's tougher to continuously be dragging out a down-in-the-dump mood. it feels tiring to be in that kind of state so, in that case, i think it's better to quickly get your energy up, even a little, and spend time enjoyably. i also have the help of the members who are always supporting me. after that i also often call my family. while spending time like that, i generally become energetic but i also cherish my alone time. i also spontaneously go to karaoke alone and recently while singing, i've fallen asleep and woken up wonderfully refreshed (laughs)💬 what kind of presence are the &TEAM members to NICHOLAS?
🍓 it's difficult to express in one word. they're like friends that aren't also friends, they're like family that aren't family. there is also a closeness from working hard together while looking towards the same dream...it's quite hard. i can't express it well in one word but they're indispensable people who i want to continuously be together with even into the future. however it doesn't mean constantly being together with them over a 24 hour period (laughs)💬 do you have something that makes you happy?
🍓 i feel happy every day. i receive a lot of love while doing this job and even today happy tears are coming out cause i was able to eat a yummy hamburger (laughs). i think my luck is really great since my favourite thing became my work and i get to spend every day doing it so i'm always happy💬 in your 20s, what is something you want to fulfil or what is a future vision?

- spicy foods ✔interview memothe photo shoot starts at a secondhand clothes store. happy NICHOLAS, who went "wah!" upon seeing the lines of clothes when he entered the store. during the break, he was looking at clothes with a smile but when the photo shoot began, suddenly, he was with a cool expression. he was shooting while making small adjustments to the angle of his face so that the glasses he was wearing weren't reflecting and we were able to get really amazing shots (please check it out in the magazine!)in the latter half, a photo shoot that happened at a hamburger shop. NICHOLAS, who was anticipating so he didn't eat the onigiri prepared for him in the waiting room, said "i can eat the hamburger later!". energy rising with the visual of a wagyu hamburger, when he ate it, he was grinning. the cameraman said "since we are preparing the next shot, it is alright to take three bites and go on standby" so during standby, NICHOLAS reported with a smile "i ate three bites" which was too cute and the place was engulfed with laughter. after the shoot ended, everything was successfully eaten

giving one's all today and heading to shimokitazawa from the morning although not being a morning person💬 this time we've done a photo shoot with the theme "day off", in what way do you actually spend your day off?
🍓 99% of the time i spend it shopping! i really like fashion so even if i can make a little bit of time, i want to go out looking for clothes (laughs). for me, going out shopping is the best change of pace and it becomes a source of stress relief. like the photo shoot done this time, a day off in shimokitazawa going around to secondhand shops and eating yummy food is ideal. it is the best day ever being able to spend time like this! actually i’m not a morning person but today i've been excited since the morning and it's been super fun💬 what is something you want to recommend in taiwan to the readers?
🍓 i always say the same thing to the members but i want to say that there is a lot of yummy food that you can only eat in taiwan so if you go on a trip to taiwan please try out the foods you haven't eaten before. i especially recommend the noodle dishes. oyster misua and intestine misua topped with boiled pork offal and such have a salty-sweet flavour with super thin noodles. i was touched by the fact that, after a long time, it was possible for me to eat all my favourite foods that i eat when i return to taiwan during the asia tour's taipei concert

🍓 self care. body maintenance is an obvious thing and since i'm an artist, i especially worry about throat care. i'm conscious about drinking water as much as possible and i'm refraining from my favourite spicy foods during the asia tour💬 do you have something you always bring with you on a trip?
🍓 i bring with me honey. before and after a performance, i make an effort to drink it mixed with hot water to soothe my throat. you can use it as self care and it is tasty so i recommend it! after that as expected it's clothes. during the asia tour, there was a period of around a month where we were away from japan so i went around with 3 to 4 luggages. i want to put together an outfit that matches the mood of that day. that's why when i don't have clothes i want to wear, i feel super frustrated so i always bring with me a large amount of clothes to lift my mood

🍓 sweats are an item that i really like to the point i basically wear them everyday. especially on practice days, there are a lot of times where i'm decked out in sweats. my recent go-to style is matching a short length top with big pants. they're clothes that you can be yourself in even on your on or off days💬 what point strikes out to you in wearing GU's sweats?
🍓 first of all, i thought that the material feels good. the grey cropped puff sweat pullover is a women's item but since i usually pick clothes that i like regardless of gender, the styling this time worked really well too. for the pants too, the silhouette, where the sleeves get wider towards the sleeve opening, is to my liking so i really liked the whole balance of the outfit

🐶 actually there are a lot of times we are together at home and we'd basically be up until late into the night

🍓 we each individually clean. respectively there's a lot of members who are all about tidiness so things like trying not to leave trash or personal belongings behind in places that everyone uses, even though it isn't set as a rule in particular, it is something that everyone properly abides by💬 do you have personal rules while living together?
🍓 there's basically none however if i were to say, it might be that i don't like when someone leaves trash behind in visible places. if i find it, once or twice i'll throw it away without saying anything, but i get a little annoyed when it continues on (laughs). there's a few times i had to tell a member off...it's EJ (laughs)💬 what's your ideal home?
🍓 rather than fussing over colour or furniture, a room that showcases my individuality is ideal. i want to decorate it stylishly and not just by merely placing anime figurines or cushions! i want to make a room that makes you think it's stylish the moment you crack open the door💬 what's your usual room wear?

🍓 first of all i really like the outfits cause they're cute. this time especially the shoes are star of the show. actually our member K loves this sort of fluffy type of shoe and he's told me about many others. my friends also wear them💬 how was it trying out UGG's looks?
🍓 the material is fluffy, it suits winter, it's warm, and it's easy to walk in so it's really comfortable and i like it a lot. i own a similar pair and trying out the actual feel of them through this shoot makes me want to buy another. among the looks, the black one is my favourite💬 besides the shoes, how was it?
🍓 i thought the scarf was nice. it's a staple as a stylish winter item so i recently bought one for autumn and winter fits. the vibe of wearing it over the shoulder in the shoot was really cute and i also thought the jacket was nice. the jacket is really of my favourite style and i even wear it often as my own clothes. it is so my taste💬 the shoot this time was of our holiday collection so do you have any holiday related memories?
🍓 if it's the winter holidays, my family has a tradition of putting presents into red stockings at home. when i was young, i really liked the present i got from my dad which was an ant fossil necklace. i was a kid so i liked bugs but i couldn't even imagine receiving such an unusual present so it was really memorable to my younger self. it was a pretty big ant (laughs)💬 what kind of holiday season do you want to spend with the members?

🍓 what i felt throughout the shoot was that the theme had a bright feel to it as well and by nature the other two also have a cute air about them so i tried hard to match (laughs). i rarely wear this sort of refreshing style of fashion so i did my best (laughs)💬 what kind of things do you often do when you have a whole day off?
🍓 when i have work i have the tendency to not get enough sleep so when i get a day off i sleep until late and go shopping. i'd then go and eat some good meat. i want to eat things like meat dishes or sushi
🐰 normally if i even have a little time i'd go shopping but if i got a whole day off, i'd like to go on a little trip and go to an onsen. i love bathing so usually even in the dorm i'm the type to soak in the bathtub. recently i've also started going to saunas. with shopping, i often go together with NICHOLAS. the two of us to some extent decide on something we want and go and wander around various stores. however when it comes to clothes, since we often have fateful encounters with items, we also end up buying items that are completely different to the things we were supposed to get. i'm the type to make up my mind right away if i think it's nice💬 do you have a drink or snack you've been obsessed with lately?
🍓 it's ice cream every time. during work, i hold back a little from eating it but when i go to the convenience store i end up unintentionally wanting to buy it. i think i like eating ice cream better in winter instead of when it's hot. it's a given that you eat ice cream in summer right? eating ice cream in winter though for some reason feels like i've won so it feels good (laughs)💬 what "my best item" are you glad about buying?
🍓 it's probably the clock ring i bought recently. the ring has a clock on it and there's a little bit of a gold colour in the silver and it's super cute💬 is there a word that a person has told you that made you happy?
🍓 i like being told that i'm stylish. the expression "stylish", in a variety of genres and not just limited to fashion, is to my taste. since i'm the type to try my hand at new things, i want people to say that my pictures, clothes, and such are stylish and even my song writing too💬 is there something you are particular about yourself that you really can't give up on?
🍓 it'd probably be living as my authentic self. i think you can't help being influenced by other people's words and actions but it is important to protect the things that you like. i don't like giving up on things because someone said to do so even when i don't think that way. take for example like doing your nails, wearing skirts, there are no rules when it comes to fashion. giving in makes me feel like i lost to something so that is the one thing about me i can't give up on. in my case, it is my nature to think with a rebellious heart as well as in a way that takes things in and tries things out in an opposite approach💬 what side of you have you yet to show to fans?
🍓 i'm wasteful with money (laughs). well i'm like that when it comes to buying clothes as well but when i'm too busy to shop i eat A LOT using delivery💬 do you have a way of relieving stress?
🍓 when i have nothing on the following day, i let out my stress by eating a lot. if we're talking about the most amount i've ever eaten then once in one sitting i ate five burgers along with chicken nuggets and fries💬 is there something you usually keep in mind in order for growth?
🍓 if i'm free, i try to go to the gym as much as possible and keep fit. i also go to vocal training during schedules. if there is time, it is my style to work on the things that can further my growth and practise individually before i perform in front of people. i also like the time spent making music and i can enjoy my time💬 you're a group of nine so what kind of things do you make sure to take care of?
🍓 within the group i've always held the position of fashion leader but i really do like clothes. when we debuted, everyone didn't have that much of an interest in fashion so i had fun with fashion as i shared it with them. i don't know if that's what influenced them but from then on everyone quickly came to like clothes and shortly after they all started calling me the fashion leader. i often go shopping together with HARUA. when the two of us go shopping i look for clothes that would suit him so i think i can do some good shopping for HARUA (laughs)💬 this was a year of challenging plenty and change so what was the greatest challenge?
🍓 at this year's D.U.N.K. i had a stage where i performed a rap i wrote myself. it was truly a new experience so that to me was a challenge. then for my individual stage from our 3rd anniversary &DAY event, i'm still lacking in skills so in the future i want to set up even more challenges and develop myself. after that it's a tough thing but building confidence in myself is of incredible importance. some real skill is needed to be able to do a range of things naturally so for that too i need to practise a lot💬 do you have a fun happening from this year?
🍓 this year we had our first asia tour and i was able to go back to my home in taiwan. i was super happy to be able to do a concert in the place i was born and raised in. a lot of people came to see me including my family and friends. after the concert ended it turned into like a family fansign since there was a large amount of people. it was to the point where i had no time to make conversation (laughs)💬 tell us about the songs on &TEAM's first korean mini album "BACK TO LIFE"
🍓 the title track is a song packed with &TEAM's charm. it has a story and there is also a lot of acting in the music video so it'd be nice if people watch it closely. for the other songs in the album as well, we were able to show off a variety of charms so i'd be glad if people listen to the songs plenty. for the title track "BACK TO LIFE", it's about a "new challenge" and "starting from zero". the song is filled with such messages so i pay attention to letting out that kind of atmosphere from my emotions when performing and from expressing the song. the title track isn't a refreshing and bright song so i think it'd be good to listen to it during tiring times or times when energy is needed. i want people to listen to it while they're working out or when they're working hard on the job💬 &TEAM, who achieved their korean debut, are making their appearance as a special guest for ONE REPUBLIC's japanese concert! it's a pretty big role so what kind of feelings did you have when it was decided?
🍓 it really is a dream-like chance. i've been listening to ONE REPUBLIC since i was young. TEDDER produced our song "DROPKICK" so i'm really looking forward to being able to stand on stage together. i'm really excited. ONE REPUBLIC is our huge huge huge senior so there is a lot of unease about standing on their stage. however we, &TEAM, have absolute confidence in having a good time with music so i hope we can pull off an enjoyable performance and get the energy going until ONE REPUBLIC's time on stage💬 please share your future goals and things you want to challenge as global artists
🍓 as a global team language is our one weapon. right now we sing songs in japanese and korean but next time it'd be nice to be able to release an entire song in english and mandarin or to convey songs to even more people in german or just a variety of languages

🍓 i change styles depending on the shoot or performance but i like hairstyles like today's with its straight and slightly wet feel💬 what kind of feeling did you get the moment you put on the outfits?
🍓 i was super excited. i personally especially like the kind of tough vibe of the last concept so i was pumped up during the shoot💬 did you have a favourite item?
🍓 my favourites were the leather coat and the jewellery. when it comes to leather, it gives off a biker's jacket-like tough image but the difference born from when you pair it with chic accessories is charming so i personally really like it💬 do you have a lucky item of clothing that boosts your energy when you wear it?
🍓 i own what you call a pair of "special underwear" (laughs). it's an item i wear when i want to hype myself up for important events or stages so i call it my "lucky underwear" (laughs). for some weird reason when i wear them i get the feeling that things will go well. i also like items with pink in them so i own clothes, shoes, accessories, and just various pink things. it's surprisingly easy to match things with them so i like them💬 when shopping are you the type to decide immediately or the type to think about it?
🍓 i'm the type that decides immediately. i don't want to have regrets so if i find an item i like i'll buy it. i like shopping so having gone over and over again, i've generally come to know my preferences and vibe so i don't ponder for long💬 through the photoshoot is there anything that you found that you are recently feeling good about?
🍓 it'd be the pink hair (laughs). i'm happy i was able to do a shoot with this hair colour. having actually seen the final photos on set, i found them really good so i like it💬 do you think music and fashion have a link?
🍓 i think they're pretty connected. i think to be an "artist" is to express your personality and emotions through a range of forms. i feel you generally get the idea as to what kind of person a person is when you look at their fashion and i think music is like that too. that's why, as a form of expression, "fashion" and "music" are linked💬 when you usually pick out clothes, what do you value the most?
🍓 overall it'd be "mood". i think that's the most important. for the most part in my case, i decide on a concept and pick clothes that way. recently i was really excited to have been able to dye my hair my favourite colour pink so i also got my nails done to match. my theme right now is "rockstar". in particular my favourite thing when putting together a fit is picking out items that only i could pull off. i find it fun to think about how to incorporate pink into my style. i think there are no rules in fashion. even today i came to the studio wearing a skirt. i like to go for the challenge rather than playing by the rules and that's exactly what i think the charm of fashion is

he is also popular as a model seen in various media such as "GU", fashion magazine "MARIE CLAIRE KOREA", and moreputting in twice as much effort to grow in ability to achieve free expression with musicNICHOLAS has a charming difference between the delicateness he unexpectedly shows and his cool and captivating appearance. &TEAM's greatest fashion leader has also awoken as a vocalist as he is learning a high tone falsetto on top of his low tone rap and moreNC: i'm often left to deal with powerful lower register raps but being able to easily sing high notes now as well is where i feel i've grown as an artist. getting a lot of parts in the ost "W.O.L.F." with EJ, K, and TAKI for our webtoon "DARK MOON : THE GREY CITY" was when i became aware of vocals. i couldn't get the hang of it at first which made it frustrating, so i practised after getting plenty of advice. although i feel i'm still lacking in detail and design when it comes to singing, my strengths are that my excitement on stage is powerful, and that i don't lose to pressure
having done activities for three years, i've come to realise that it's important to not be nervous and to be relaxed as it is essential to accurately convey your message on stage. the opportunities to be on stage solo grew in 2025 and people told me that i didn't look nervous but it's probably because i'm good at pretending that i'm not (laughs). to me, enjoying a level of nervousness leads to a good performance so i think of nerves as a spice that can take me one level higher. for the korean debut however, it was different mindset wise. as we were no longer rookies, our desire to prove that we had an incredible determination to move forward as a global group and our desire to produce results were strong. that's why the nine of us took the debut on more seriously than ever and were able to get the best kick start with our million seller achievement on that first day. i want to thank LUNÉ again for thathe also goes to karaoke alone for a change of paceNC: when i hurt my foot during a performance in the midst of the korean debut preparations, i was ashamed and frustrated and was at a loss at what to do while sat in the wheelchair. even throughout my treatment, i took vocal lessons and did upper body workouts and put in whatever small effort i could to keep up with everyone. i also had moments of unease because i couldn't get enough time to prepare. even with that happening, i wasn't going to grumble about it but rather i wanted to have fun and talk about fun things with the members. so in doing that, the nine of us overcame that hurdle. i worked hard at a month long diet for an important individual shoot and it gave me strength when everyone told me "let's eat to your heart's content together once your shoot is over"
i'm originally an active person so i exercise and go shopping as a change of pace. i get more energetic when night comes (laughs) so even on nights when everyone was asleep, i found that it was a waste to go to bed so i've gone cycling alone on the streets and i've gone to karaoke alone too. i've fallen asleep while singing though (laughs). i've got plenty of things i want to do in the future as well. first of all, i want to design clothes myself so i'd like to try and start up a brand someday. it's still a far off distant dream of mine but i'm working at it little by little. i'd also like to try my hand at songwriting which i haven't been able to do much of recently. when i make music myself, my understanding of music when i sing is completely different. after that, having done performances in my hometown of taiwan, my new goal has become performing in the biggest venue in taiwan. i want to improve my japanese, korean, and english as languages are important in realising my dreams. i also want to improve my strength in singing, and in areas where i'm lacking. i want a skill upgrade in everything cause what i want to do is to have free expression and i can't even begin to consider being able to do things freely if i don't have the abilities to follow. i want to steadily build strength and go and meet LUNÉ from many regions

NC: it was a year packed with a lot of fun things. i was able to go to many places i hadn't been to before through the asia tour so i was able to make many great memories. i feel that it was a tour that brought out a lot of the members' great qualities

NC: boxing! every time i look into a mirror lately i start shadowboxing...

NICHOLAS loves doing things together with others so he gets really happy with invitations to eat or play basketball. by the way, he is seriously not a morning person so, as much as possible, leaving him be and not talking to him is the right way to goMAKI from NICHOLASNC: MAKI’s charm is that despite him having bulked up, his smile is unchangingly puppy-like and innocent when he’s doing his favourite things. he tries to look cool during photoshoots but when we went to the trampoline park together, the moment he entered the place, he dashed in with a smile and it was so cute (laughs). he also has a puppy-like personality so he’ll be in a good mood when you compliment him a bunch and feed him delicious food. if i were to compliment him right now, it’d probably be on his clothes. in the past i used to teach him all kinds of things but lately MAKI has made his own distinctive style and he's really fashionable. he thinks of me as a fashion teacher so if i tell him this, he’s going to be over the moon~ ♪

NC: i feel bare going out without any accessories so i'm probably first and foremost particular about having them on. since i'm not a fan of dressing formally, a point that i value is to dress partially casual and to add in accents in my own wayQ2: what do you do to improve yourself?
NC: input is valuable however ending at that honestly won’t change much. that's why i believe that following it through all the way to output is linked to growth. in my case for example, if i go see a fashion show, i take care to actually apply the ideas i acquired there to my own wardrobeQ3: what emoji do you use the most when chatting with the members?
NC: i don’t really use emojis but if i were to send one to the members, it’d be this straight faced one 😑. when i don’t know what to reply with, i get my feelings across with that emoji (laughs). the &TEAM member who uses emojis the most…probably TAKI i think?Q4: share with us your morning routine!
NC: i’m not a morning person so i’m the type that can live healthier when i’m jet-lagged (laughs). i usually get myself in high spirits by styling myself up in the morning. on the night prior, i’ll go to bed after choosing my outfit for the following day but on days that i doze off by accident, i’ve got this rule where i’ll choose my outfit based on how i’m feeling the moment i wake upQ5: what in a performance makes you feel growth?
NC: i felt it during the tour, how the entire flow was smoother compared to before. we have all kinds of songs with differing genres so how we sing in them changes in every single one. it’s tough having to let out a high note after an intense rap but i think i’ve grown a little in that aspectQ6: what are you aware of in how you get along with the members?
NC: all of the members are kind and we also don’t fight very much. however, since we’ve all got our own little ways to spend our time, i try to keep comfortable and take it easy. i like taking on various things so i’d be pretty glad if i could give positive energy to everyone as wellQ7: what has been your favourite hairstyle so far?
NC: my favourite colour is pink so as expected it’s probably my pink hair. it was often styled in a wavy way so that’s also a favourite of mine. since i’ve pretty much tried out all the hair colours i wanted to try, i don’t have any new wishes yet so i’m currently thinking about what would be niceQ8: share with us a recent update!

(laughs). i haven't praised him much lately so i'll do it here instead, i want to tell him that his features have really sharpened lately so he's grown even more handsome ☺️

EJ: generally i'm on team monotone so i prefer plain items over intricate designs. even when i put on accessories, it's pretty much stuff like fine rings and such. as i dress simply, i try to let my individuality through with silhouettes, so i tend to go for fitted tops and larger pantsQ2: what do you do to improve yourself?
EJ: i'm increasing the time i spend with others. i used to spend my time alone a lot but in doing so, i felt like i was making very few new changes. that's why when the members invite me out to eat, i just go on out and it really is fun when i doQ3: what emoji do you use the most when chatting with the members?
EJ: i'm the type that uses emojis pretty often so the one i use a lot is probably this 🥺? there's a lot of people who add multiple emojis but i generally just add one. by the way, if we're talking characters, then i tend to throw on "笑笑" [LOL] at the endQ4: share with us your morning routine!
EJ: my throat gets dry while sleeping so i start off by taking a gulp of water. after that i brush my teeth, take a shower, and when i've got no schedules on that day, i eat breakfast. in the past, i used to go back to sleep again but i'd end up running late so i remember thinking that i've definitely got to put an end to that and stopped doing itQ5: what in a performance makes you feel growth?
EJ: after debuting, i used to get down in the dumps when i couldn't be 100% perfect but lately i feel i've grown just a little bit more laid back. i've become more aware of enjoying myself on stage so i've ended up feeling good after a performance more often. i, of course, continue to work on any regretful aspects until the very next performanceQ6: what are you aware of in how you get along with the members?
EJ: being polite is important no matter how close we are. i don't say anything that could hurt others and if i do end up doing that, i apologise immediately. we've got a lot of people in our group so while respecting everyone's individual preferences and personalities, we try to look at the whole so all nine of us can have fun together without alienating anyoneQ7: what has been your favourite hairstyle so far?
EJ: i don't really wear my bangs up but one time i had my forehead out for a music program and thought it looked pretty good. if we're talking hair colours, i liked the pink hair i had at the start of our debut so i'd like to try it again. other than that, i'd like to try going blond-ishQ8: share with us a recent update!
EJ: i've been into onsens and saunas lately and recently i went to one in kamakura. i like the characteristic wood smell of a sauna and find it appealing how refreshing you feel after sweating out. having my face feel all clean after heading out of a sauna and soaking in an onsen as well makes me feel like i've successfully updated!

EJ: last year was a year where, little by little, &TEAM began to see good results through our japan-korean double million seller achievement, our asia tour, and our participation in kouhaku uta gassen. we want to make this year one that surpasses even the likes of &TEAM’s last. i think that among the people that support &TEAM, there are still plenty of people who have yet to be able to meet us. this year we want to visit plenty more places and be near all the fans that wanted to see us but couldn't yet. personally, i want to make this a year where i deepen my identity further while discovering plenty more things that i loveQ: your 3rd ep “WE ON FIRE” that was released on april 21st has also become a hot topic. what parts were given special care?
EJ: it’s like this every time but we had thoughts of wanting to show our immense growth in comparison to previous work. this time we have songs of all kinds of genres so even the moods are completely different depending on the song. we did the recordings while practising vocals to suit the songs so we had to slightly alter nuances as well as how we got our vocals outQ: EJ, who drives the group as &TEAM’s leader, i’m sure there are also plenty of hardships in the role of a leader but how do you get back up when you’re feeling down?
EJ: i’ve got different ways to bounce back but ultimately it's about having no choice but to overcome it myself. if i happen to be feeling down over my own shortcomings, those troubles go away if i overcome them after putting in the work. in my case, i hold the view of “moving ahead without ever stopping” so even if i’m not in perfect condition, my feelings are at easeQ: what does EJ picture as an “ideal leader”?
EJ: i think that it’s a naturally difficult thing for all nine members of the team as well as the company staff to have the same thoughts and ideas as we run together towards one goal. however i think that the ideal leader is a person who can properly organise and bring that all together so everyone can continue moving forward to that one goalQ: by the way EJ, around what percent are you to nearing that image of an ideal leader right now?
EJ: i’m still at around 30-40%. during the process of trying to bring everyone together, there are moments where, as a leader, i have to give strict words to the members but i find doing that pretty difficult. even so, when i try and have to properly get those words across for the sake of the team, there are also parts that don’t go well
INTERVIEWER: however it’s undoubtedly because of that thoughtful kindness that you hold EJ that everyone follows along right?
EJ: i’m glad that you think that. i’m working towards looking at the bigger picture even more broadly so i think i’m steadily changingQ: in the oggi june issue magazine, you talked about the support that sub leader FUMA’s presence gives you. if there are any specific memorable episodes, please do share
EJ: fortunately, each of us lately have been spending day after day bustling around so there basically has also been no time to take it slow and spend time together, but when we debuted i seriously went to FUMA’s room everyday, asked for advice, and chatted together until late into the night. they are unforgettable memories and even now it gives me strengthQ: please share any phrases or things that would be good to remember on a trip to korea
EJ: the naver and kakao apps. there will be a lot of ease in korea if you download these two apps. you’ve got naver for maps and looking things up and then kakao for bus and subway lines and they’re easy to understand so i think you’ll feel reassured if you download themQ: please send a message to the readers who are leading busy lives every day!
EJ: when you’re spending every day hectically working or studying, doing housework, and more, i think there are plenty of moments where what’s around you affects you and you can’t speak your feelings or opinions honestly. when that happens, you find that on the inside you end up steadily losing yourself. however, try to put yourself as your top most priority over what’s around you once in a while. please remind yourself of the kind of person that you were and the things that you loved as you do your favourite things. i want you to live life never ever forgetting to cherish yourselfEJ’s “this or that” Q&AQ: do you eat your favourite foods first or later?

enthusiastically going on a long-desired solo camping trip carrying a stockpile of ingredientsQ: this time, as per EJ’s request, we held a shoot with a “day off solo camping” theme so how was it?
EJ: thank you. since i like nature, i was able to have a super fun shoot and it was how i imagine an ideal day off to be! i want to take it easy in this sort of way: cooking for myself, eating, and doing the things i like. on my actual days off, i’m not the type to willingly head out so i’d watch movies at home and go out to eat when the members extend an invitation, and such. recently, K invited me out so we went to a sauna togetherQ: what side of you would you like people to look out for in your 3rd ep “WE ON FIRE”, released april 21st?
EJ: we showed off &TEAM’s powerful sound and slightly dark side with “GO IN BLIND” and “BACK TO LIFE”, however, “WE ON FIRE” is a hiphop song where we can have a little more fun with everyone. to be real with you, i thought it wasn’t an &TEAM-like song on my first listen so i’m certain it will showcase a completely different side of us compared to what we’ve shown up until now. alongside the characteristic &TEAM goodness, i would like people to experience a unique charm they’ve yet to see from us

EJ: i’m not too knowledgeable about seoul either but i’d recommend a district called “jongno”. they’ve historic buildings and i often hear it’s an area that’s also got plenty of small cute things and delicious foods. to be honest, it’s an area i also haven’t really been to so now it’s a place i’d like to visit (laughs). for the magazine readers as well, how about going for a visit when you go on a trip to korea?Q: do you have something you always bring along on trips?
EJ: it’d be my vintage digicam. i only just bought it and i used it to take pictures when i visited the sea alone on a recent break. although i always take that camera out along with me wherever i go lately, it had to be today of all days where i ended up forgetting it…i noticed it in the car and thought “aaah…this sucks…” (bitter smile)Q: what do you keep in mind as &TEAM’s leader?
EJ: during my student days, i wasn’t the kind of person to stand in front of people and lead so, honestly, when the group was formed, i didn’t have the confidence that i could do well. however since everyone had entrusted me with the role of leader, i carried a sense of responsibility and wanted to do it properly; i had to put in my very best. having thought that so strongly, i made up my mind to work hard with the trust that everyone put in me. to be recognised as a leader, i have to build myself up properly. that’s why i always keep in mind to start from getting myself together first

EJ: it’d be making the group my number one priority no matter what. even if i myself had something going on, i’ve decided to think about what would be helpful for &TEAM above all. i’d like to say that i’m a perfect leader but i’m a bit of a klutz and absent-minded so there are moments where the members also lend me a hand. in particular, our subleader FUMA plays a papa-like role in the group. when i’m worried about whether the views and values that i hold as a leader are really benefiting the team, FUMA always tells me “we’re on EJ's side so go on with confidence”. to me, he is a presence that gives a sense of security and the person i rely on the mostQ: what do you want to say to the members right now?
EJ: obviously each and every one of us have our own differing individual charms and weapons, however, our work as &TEAM is the only thing we can’t do alone. i want us, together as nine, to put our all towards the things that don’t come to fruition when we’re alone. heading into the future, let’s continue to be one another’s strength as we work hard to aim towards new heights!

YM: it'd be NICHOLAS. his appearance is cat-like and so is the my pace and laidback vibe that he has. NICHOLAS has got his own kind of pride so when you touch him when he's in a bad mood, you'll end up getting told off......at times like that, you've just got to wait it out until he's in a good mood (laughs)

NICHOLAS from &TEAMin addition to his mysterious look, cool gaze, and handsome features, NICHOLAS of global group &TEAM has sexiness and charisma that exudes from this well-built physique, leaving a fierce impression on wandering eyes. depending on the concept or song, he changes up his vibe with ease and the extensive range of his facial expressions, that can make him seem like a whole other person, is a major charm of his. furthermore, on one hand while being equipped with an intelligence that is proficient in four languages, he is usually an endearing character that kindly watches over his members. it's that multifaceted nature and contrast of his that deepens his being even more. NICHOLAS is a magic spice that slowly takes effect but once you notice it, you'll be addictedQ: how was the photoshoot?
NC: it was super fun. up until now i haven’t really had many opportunities to do a photoshoot with a concept like this so it was really refreshing. instead of only doing the same set of facial expressions, i love changing up emotions and expressions to fit a concept. i work hard in my own way so that i can pull off natural expressions when naturalness is wanted or intense expressions when fierceness is wanted instead. today the shoot was done with all kinds of styling so i think i got some super great shots. the first look has a natural vibe that i almost never get to do a shoot in so i believe i was able to show off a fresh new side of myself to the fans as wellQ: this time round the theme was “spicy makeup”. did you have a favourite look?
NC: i love a tough vibe so the last look with that kind of intense spicy feel is my favourite! also i really liked the makeup of the second look, the one with the cheeks as the main focus, as you could feel the contrast between cuteness and powerfulnessQ: is there anything you’re particular about when it comes to beauty?
NC: my skin dries up easily so for skincare i make sure to moisturise well with a moisturising lotion and i try to drink water frequently. also when i’m sleep deprived i end up getting pimples and the state of my skin gets bad so i also make sure to get some proper sleep inQ: is there anything you’re particular about when it comes to scents?
NC: the smell of jasmine, in particular, is my favourite as i love natural scents like florals and woods. although i do own perfume, i’m the type that usually doesn’t use itQ: regarding beauty culture, did you feel a difference in values when you came to japan?
NC: i think there’s a difference in the makeup style. i lived as a trainee in korea so japanese makeup felt more fresh to me. i normally often pay mind to using my eyes in shoots and on stage to be expressive so i’m pretty particular about eye makeup. for example i feel that in korea they often add colour to put emphasis on the eye makeup but in japan they often go in with a heavy eyeliner without adding much colour. however, whether it be japan or korea, the styles are completely different depending on the makeup stylist so that is also fun tooQ: do you have any advice for men who are beginners in makeup?
NC: for men doing makeup, you might feel that there is a hurdle in your way, especially at first. however i think that being able to build confidence from doing as you desire without worrying about the looks of those around you really is the coolest. since you can do your hair and makeup according to how you’re feeling at the time or to your favourite style, i think that in that sense, it’s a part of fashion. it’s a super neat tool for self expression so i want you to give it a try as you wishQ: NICHOLAS has the image of a fashion lover so what’s a point that you’re particular about?
NC: i try not to be fixed on the line of thought that is “this one style is for me”. i enjoy trying out all kinds of fashion styles and genres that go with a theme based on how i’m feeling that day or the weather and such. just like with hair and makeup, there is also freedom with fashion and since there is no right answer, i also have no set style for myself. that being said i also try not to judge others as wellQ: are there any items you want to get this summer?
NC: actually i already got it but i would like to wear bermuda shorts in the summer. i wasn’t really originally the type to wear bermuda shorts but i recently bought a pair with a design i liked. i haven’t been able to wear them at all since it's still a little cold so i want the weather to get warmer faster! (photoshoot done in march). i also want to try buy a pair of boots to go with the shorts so i already have several that i want to get. there was also a pair of bermuda shorts in one of the looks this time and they were really cute. my hair was also done in waves so i think the fans will definitely be calling me cute but i did my best to do the shoot so that i wouldn’t come off as such (laughs)Q: do you have anything you keep in mind when it comes to getting into shape?
NC: stamina is a necessity during the period of a new album release and during tours. also since i wanted to show off an even better physique, i basically went and hit the gym daily. however since it became winter, it got cold so i kind of ended up slacking off……we’ve got a release and tour starting up again so i’ve got to start hitting the gym soon!Q: do you cook for yourself?
NC: i really can’t at all……however it seems our member TAKI has recently been obsessed with cooking so i got to try a taste of his cooking and it caught me by surprise cause it was pretty good (laughs). if i had to say, although TAKI is a funny character, he suddenly got a boyfriend vibe about him and he got even cooler so that contrast of his is also quite niceQ: do you go out to eat with your members?
NC: lately we’ve all had individual schedules so we had fewer opportunities to get all of us together but, in spite of that, when we do gather on set or such, we’re basically always casually fooling around and all (laughs). i like listening to conversations so i enjoy myself as i watch the members chat awayQ: what would you want to do if you got a holiday?
NC: i love hanging out at the ocean or outside so when i get long holidays i go and hang out at warm places. at the start of the year i went to hawaii and had fun in the ocean! i love activities so i also wanted to try out skydiving but i couldn’t cause the weather wasn’t looking good. since skydiving is part of my bucket list i’d like to try it out this summer!Q: last year you achieved being a japan-korea double million seller, participated in kouhaku uta gassen, and more, so i believe it was a year where you soared to great heights as a group. what kind of year do you think 2026 will shape up to be?
NC: whether it be as a group or individually, i think this will be the year of challenges. a while ago on a taiwanese program i had the honour of doing a solo collaboration with famous taiwanese rock band “831” so i’m already challenging fresh new things that i’ve never done before. even now there are things i’m in the middle of preparing to fulfil dreams of mine and i think they will be a surprise so please do look forward to themQ: what kind of vision do you picture for the future as a group and individually?
NC: doing a world tour is our goal as &TEAM. we want to go and meet all the LUNÉs (fan name) in all kinds of areas. as for personally, i want to try and build my own brand one dayQ: please tell us about your 3rd ep “WE ON FIRE” as well
NC: our song “WE ON FIRE” is a title song unlike all the title songs we’ve ever done before. it’s more pop sounding and it’s easy on the ears so it’s a song topped with adlibs that everyone can enjoy together. our member K was also included with the making of the choreography and it’s a song that all the members like so i really want to perform it for everyone quickly. among the recorded songs, my favourite is “HOTLINE”. it was also really memorable getting to enjoyably record together with the members. since it’s a song that gives you a boost, i hope you give it a listen at times when you need energy!Q: &TEAM’s 2026 concert tour “BLAZE THE WAY” has also been announced so do share with us your enthusiasm!
NC: since the title of the tour means to “cut down a path”, we want to show the side of &TEAM that pushes on ahead. i love a space that is everyone being able to become one with music so i’m seriously really looking forward to the tour!

above all give it a try!NC: i’m from taiwan so my native language is mandarin. what led me to be able to speak english was a summer camp in america that i went to during my summer school break when i was a kid. my dad took me there. i remember that at first i didn’t know a lick of english and got homesick but by the final day i was able to speak a little bit. if i were to give LUNÉ (name of &TEAM’s fans) and the readers some advice from that experience, it’d be that the key to improving your english conversational skills is to use it. whether you make a mistake or if you’re bad at it, it’s alright. in the end, you're bound to convey what you want to say to others

part oneNICHOLAS and MAKI, from the nine member global boygroup &TEAM, make their apperance in our special interview! this time we’ve got MAKI interviewing NICHOLAS, who has taiwan roots. what are the english speaking roots and language learning tricks of NICHOLAS, who other than his native language of mandarin can speak english, korean, and japanese?built up english skills from having no choice but to use itMK: our focus is around music activities so we don’t really get opportunities to do interviews like this right?
NC: yeah. when MAKI and i heard about the offer to do a interview about learning english, we were pretty happy. MAKI has got roots in germany and japan while i in taiwan. since there are members that come from all different kinds of backgrounds gathered in &TEAM, we thought about how there are various ways in which everyone can communicate so we decided that we would take on this interview
MK: NICO (NICHOLAS’ nickname) what were your elementary and middle school years like?
NC: i started badminton in elementary school by recommendation of my sister and took part in games as a doubles player. i did morning practice before classes and practised after classes too…i did nothing but badminton all day long~
MK: you also took part in a major competition didn’t you?
NC: i did. i didn’t win however i practised with the will of wanting to become stronger!
MK: even from then you were competitive (laughing). by the way, what is learning english in elementary and middle school like in taiwan?
NC: at public elementary schools, you’ve got english classes from your third year. however recently it seems like there are a lot of households that put focus into english education from the kindergarten stage
MK: i see. when the members are all talking together, we talk in japanese but when it’s just the two of us, it’s pretty much all english isn't it? were you able to speak english fluently since you were a kid?
NC: yeah since i studied hard at school…is what i want to say but (laughing) the american summer camp that i went to every year during summer break played a big part. it was practically all just native english speakers over there so cause of that i was learning english like my life depended on it. after that when i was a trainee in korea and had just started taking lessons in order to debut, i didn’t know a smidge of korean. i communicated with everyone only using english. i think my skills were built from having no choice but to use it (laughs)
MK: woah! i’m glad that NICO and i are in the same group you know since i can also keep myself from forgetting english
NC: same for me too you know!practise english like i’m doing an interview?!MK: things like “for survival” and “out of necessity” are really important components for when you are learning something isn’t it? (laughs)
NC: yeah. when you’re studying with a purpose, i think you can learn things way more efficiently. for example, i started learning japanese after it was decided that i'd be a member of &TEAM but when i was reading textbooks and solving questions by myself, i honestly wasn't making progress with my studies
MK: although studying by the books is important too, it’s different when you’ve got a purpose isn't it?
NC: learning through conversations with the members and staff became my drive and it lead to progress
MK: even today, you’re pulling off an interview in japanese! you’re incredible even with the addition of japanese having honorific expressions
NC: it’s all thanks to the members and the staff. when i don’t understand something, MAKI teaches me in english and the other members tell me in korean. speaking of interviews, i do image training at home so i can take on interviews in english some day
MK: what? really?
NC: i’ve loved fashion since way back and i’ve been blessed with opportunities to be invited to fashion shows and to walk on runways while i work as a member of &TEAM. i’ve had the honour of doing work across all kinds of genres but i want to put in effort to also, personally, do work in the world of fashion. that’s why, i’m studying fashion-related words and phrases so that i can be invited to a fashion show overseas some day. it’s due to my love for fashion that i want to be able to talk about my thoughts on a show or the focus of an outfit in my own words
MK: it’s fun to spend time looking into your favourite things isn’t it?
NC: yeah. anime, music, movies……everyone studying english from this textbook probably has a field they are interested in as well. i think it’d be good to imagine you were being interviewed as an expertise in whatever field you are interested in and try to explain it in english!
